Week 10

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Easter break. What lovely weather we had!!

There are still some families who need to send me their email contact so I can forward the Oral Language recording next week.

On Friday we are holding a Mufti Day to support the SPCA- send a gold coin donation.

Maths:we are starting to learn times tables.- encourage your child to practise every night. This week it is the 2x.

No spelling words to learn this week.

Last week 4 of Totara's students were lucky and talented enough to win prizes in the Easter colouring competition.
Hooray for Lauren, Keisha, Julian and Lisa!!

 

On Thursday we practised doubles by making chocolate crackles. What a yummy treat they were!!

 

WEEK 9

This is a short week because of Good Friday. School will be closed from Friday starting again on Wednesday.

We need to practise reciting the poem 'A Friend' from our poem book. This week I will be recording each child for their Oral Language which will be
e-mailed home at the end of the term.

Our two monarch butterflies hatched last week. We know they are males because of the two spots on their wings.

We have been learning to greet each other in the morning in Maori.

Thanks to all the parents who went on the Riversdale Beach trip. There was lots of fun and learning!!

What a super Swimming Sports we had last Wednesday. I was so proud of Totara students and the improvements they had made from the beginning of the term.

Week 3

Hi Everyone
This week we will learning how to be Surf Smart.On Thursday we will be going to Riversdale to practise what we have learnt. Thankyou to the parents who have offered their help, you are all welcome to come. We only have 5 spaces on the bus so some of you will need to take a car.

Talking Topic-what we enjoy doing with our family
Reading-we are well into reading lessons. Some children are still finding their correct group or level so may change.
Maths- keep encouraging the practise of basic facts everyday
Spelling- practising words everyday helps your child retain them easily
Swimming-send togs everyday or a note explaining the reason why your child cannot swim. Remember our school sports are on Wednesday Week 4


We spent time swimming with our buddy class Harakeke on Friday- we had so much fun!!

You may need to discuss with your child what they are going to say and get them to write it down so they feel more confident.

Sound of the Week- cr

Reading- guided reading will start this week and a book will come home Monday to Thursday.A poem will come home on Fridays. Some groups will read a book over two days.Please sign the Reading log and make a comment.

Maths- We have started our learning 
            about Addition & Subtraction. Many students have forgotten their basic facts over the holidays.
Encourage your child to practise their facts 0-20 daily ie. 6+6, 8+3, 10-7...

We are able to work co-operatively.

Welcome back to school in Totara. We have had two action packed days already!

Talking Days have started with 'Holidays'. We will do a catch up day on Friday. Keep your topic list somewhere safe.

Spelling words have come home this week and will be tested on Fridays.
Reading books will start next week.Please sign your child's reading log every night.
